Discover Montgomery Park, a popular destination for local dog owners in the heart of Alexandria, VA. The park features a dedicated, fenced-in, off-leash dog area with a gravel surface, making it a convenient spot for residents looking for a dog-friendly place to exercise their pets. Montgomery Park is known for its great mix of amenities, including tennis courts, a playground, picnic tables, shaded areas, and a seasonal farmers market, making it a true community hub.
The dog park area is primarily gravel, which can get a bit dusty, but it provides enough space for dogs to run and socialize. While there is some shade later in the afternoon, many parts of the dog area are sunny earlier in the day. Do note that the dog park itself is not well lit after dark, as lighting comes mainly from the adjacent tennis courts. With wheelchair accessible paths and parking, plus spaces for both pet and human relaxation, it’s a welcoming spot for families and their furry friends.
I like this place for the dog park and tennis courts, both nice.
Great small farmers market every Sunday from 9 to 1. Free Yoga class at 10. They have fruit, vegetables, BBQ sauces, bakeries, hand made lotions and shave items, crystals and jewelry, vintage items.
Good neighborhood park with a farmers market and public tennis courts. I got a wonderful lavender lemonade at the farmers market here. A nice place to stop if you are in the neighborhood.
We go for the dog park, so that’s what this rating is based on. The rest of the area is shaded, with lots of green space, an enclosed, well-shaded playground, and a pavilion.
The dog park here is all gravel and only becomes shaded after 3pm.. and even then it’s not all that well shaded. Your dog will walk away dirty if it likes to play rough with other dogs. Also once it gets dark, there is no light outside except what comes from the tennis courts.
Nice small park. Has a nice fence in dog park and a nice playground for kids. There is a school near by that brings the kids over to play on the playground during the daytime. In the evenings I’ve seen groups exercising near the pavilion. The tennis courts have timed lights. The lights have a manual reset to turn them back on.
