If this was closer to Chicago, it would be packed with bikers and what not. Walking along the canal is an extremely beautiful. I do believe however it has the potential to be more. State of IL needs more funding for this park
Paid 8:00 to camp at Lock 22. Nice campground, grass mowed, 2 outhouses, some fire rings, interesting lock to examine.The bad, no water, hydrant didn’t work, only 1 picnic table.Nice trail, bad camping experienceBottom line not enough infrastructure for number of campsites. Really bad no water.
Pretty and photogenic place to walk. Great for fishing if you fish.
This was the 2nd visit for me…just needed to stretch my legs…but got to see the exhibits in the visitors center…which I enjoyed. Staff was friendly and told me things I did not know. Great maps and area information too…I calmed my nerves by the pond:)
So this is a smaller family friendly state park. It’s historical in its location along the canal and has a nice canal side walking and biking path. It’s hunting season so the parks interior trails are closed for safety. Parking is plentiful and large enough for any size rig or RV. Nice visitor center with area information. I had 2 bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.
