FAQ for Lake Mineral Wells State Park in Mineral Wells Texas:
Nice day trip …. It was a bit too hot (96°F) for any extended hike. But we had a picnic and great conversation with a Park Ranger. We will be back for hiking and biking.
Wonderful place to camp, hike, and kayak. The only downside was the racoons. There were almost dozen each night that invaded the camping area. They are not afraid of anything. They ripped the tent. We kept no food out and they still invaded us for about an hour.
Really nice park! Stayed a couple nights and had a great time. The camp sites are kept and clean, same for the bathrooms. The lake is really nice, and there are plenty of fishing docks scattered around it, although you got a hike a bit to reach a few of them. The hiking trails are gnarly! Bring boots with ankle support, lots of rocks! They even havea rock climbing area! Oh, and the wildlife at my campsite was pretty awesome. Squirrels, armadillo, cardinals, and some big ol lizard all came out! Great park!
Easy walk on a floating pontoon walkway that passes through a heavily forested area and across a lagoon with water birds and Lilly pads. Very picturesque with many benches along the way. Parking is adequate and free. Nice place for a quiet walk.
This is my favorite Texas State Park. It’s close to home but feels far away from the city. Great trails for hiking, biking and equestrian. We have come here numerous times over the years and always fine something new to do. Great hiking around the lake. Rock climbing is so fun! My daughter and I went with Rock About Climbing and had an incredible guide who made it fun for both of our levels. We like tent camping in the equestrian area because the sites are spread out a bit more. The bathrooms haven’t been updated in that area like ones in the other areas. I’m the type that enjoys going to visit new places but I find our family coming here again and again.
