FAQ for Medoc Mountain Picnic Area & Trailhead in Hollister North Carolina:
Nice places to go hiking. Bathrooms are clean. Looks like they are redoing everything.
Great, easy, family-friendly hiking trails. There’s a nice picnic area with lots of tables and little bbq pits. They also have a nice inclusive playground with a wide open grass area to play in.
Plenty of space to spread out in the picnic area. There are grills, trash cans, and benches available. When I visited on March 2, 2022 some of the benches seemed to have been moved under the pavillion area and we’re not put back, so there are a few picnic spots without their benches. There is currently a new playground open for use made for children up to ages 12, according to the sign posted at the edge of it. The pavillion has plenty of picnic benches, a grill, a fireplace, and bathrooms. It is also kind of a launching spot for several of the parks trails which we enjoyed on Tuesday. It isn’t far from the parks camping sites and close to the parking area.
Super nice picnic area! Awesome shelter, huge grassy field and picnic tables under the trees at the border as well!We hiked the camping loop. You should bring bug spray, but it was a pretty hike. Hiked the discovery trail by the park office first, and our 2 yr loved it!
Asphalt parking area and a huge grass field with picnic tables and a large shelter. Restrooms located in shelter behind fireplace. Trailhead for the Stream Loop, Discovery Loop and Bluff Loop located behind the shelter.
