🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Located on the scenic shores of White Bear Lake, Matoska Beach offers a unique dog-friendly destination for residents and visitors in Minnesota. This beach is particularly popular with the local dog community for its sandy shoreline and swim area where pups can splash, socialize, and play. The park provides easy access and is well-known as a great spot for exercise, relaxation, and making new furry friends in one of the few dog beach options in the region.
Matoska Beach features helpful amenities including doggie waste bags and nearby restrooms for owners. Picnic tables are available for seating, and there’s a marked gate for convenient entry from Lake Ave. While most owners are attentive, it’s recommended to follow leash policies for a fun, safe experience. With a family-friendly setting and clean swimming waters, it’s the go-to dog beach in White Bear Lake!
I watched the owners bring your dogs to the beach and look like they’re all getting some good exercise, R&R, and enjoying beautiful White Bear Lake at the dog park there, which is next to or in the Matoska Park.
We absolutely love this beach for our three-legged dog to swim! Such a great resource for the dog community. It can get a little crowded on hot weekends, and 50/50 on people who follow the leash rule. But we still make it out as often as we can for the clean water and making fun new (leashed 😉) dog friends!
Nice beach for dogs, I’m happy to have found it!! Unfortunately there aren’t enough dog beach options for our furry friends.
I only gave it four stars for the simple fact that about 90% of the dogs were off leash or didn’t have a drag line and people were allowing their dogs to poop on the beach and in the water and never even attempted to pick it up.
Most of the dog owners were responsible and watching their dogs while off leash, but there was a handful that they were just letting them run rogue.
Great place for your dog to run and swim! My dog isn’t a huge fan of the water but he likes to watch the other dogs play and boats drive by while sitting on the beach. There’s doggie bags available if you run out! There’s a special marked gate to enter through if you’re coming from Lake Ave! There are also bathrooms close-by.
I’ve never had a bad experience at this beach! The dogs love it and nearly everyone we have encountered is very attentive to their pets. Great access, good signage, lovely sandy swim area, and the only beach of its kind for miles!! My best advice would be to get a nice long line leash so you can respect the policies while letting your pup roam a little!
