FAQ for Dayville Rest Stop in Dayville Oregon:
Nice clean park very cute town!
No signage, no explanation, tiny and cryptic. First of all, there’s no signage telling you that it’s a rest stop. All you see is a Playground. There’s two parking spots. When you look down towards it, you see a stay out sign really big. I had to ask several people before I could determine whether I could use it or not. No water. It’s not level. I think they just want your money and for you to get out of town. Most people I notice just pull over on the side of the road for a while and then leave because there’s nowhere to park. How nice it would be to have access to the water, a Spicket, or water fountain, and may be a kiosk showing some of the history. I had to walk the tree line to find a break in it so I could access the water and it’s not kid, friendly, much less senior friendly. They probably don’t wanna spend the money. It takes to remove trash from such a development. And don’t try to access the river from south of town. They put Barbwire on both sides of the river so no one can get in. Is this Jacksonhole? I don’t know, but I don’t care. I’m not coming back.
This is always the spot we stop for a quick break when leaving from John Day to the Valley or wherever. The bathrooms are always clean, and stocked up. They’re kept warm when it’s cold out (which is very nice) The park is always kept up to good, or great condition decently lit up at night, easy to pull in to. Great little spot to stop and stretch or use the restroom.
Driving from Boise to the Willamette Valley this is the way to go. I have a toddler and this was the cleanest rest area I’ve ever been to.. EVER. Nice clean free PUBLIC bathrooms, basketball court, landscaping, park, water access, wide open area to run for all ages and pets. Keep it up, Dayville! I appreciated this so much.
Best bathroom break around. 24hrs, private pee palace, fancy soap, and a super chill and safe spot to kick it for a min while u get Ur driving legs back on the road.
