A great green little escape right in your Westchester backyard. Pruyn is bursting with the sounds of birds while sunlight filters down through the lust green canopy. Several trails are leading you past a pond, a fern forest, and even to a spring. Along the way are benches so you can sit and easily observe hummingbirds, warblers, butterflies, and more. It is a neat spot for families and even leashed dogs. As a former scout leader, please consider encouraging our Eagles and Gold Scout seekers to contact the Pruyn Audubon Sanctuary to discover how to work together for your final projects. They have extensive boardwalks here and periodic planks down which greatly enhance safety making this park accessible to a wider audience without compromising the beauty of nature. Many areas could support birdhouses, trail marking, and more. And for den Mom’s and troop leaders, there is a spot for a group lecture by the pond. A delightful visit awaits you here.

Take an hour long vigorous walk through this undisturbed natural environment, which has marked trails and descriptive plaques describing the local flora and fauna. A nice change of environment for your routine walk.

Its beautiful! Raised wooden bridge paths built thru swamp to allow for trekking thru, without disturbing the natural progression of wildlife there. Includes many educational signs about the plants, birds, and animals. Trails are easy to middle difficulty. Trails are short and marked well. Lots of skunk cabbage !
