Went on a Tuesday afternoon, were a few cars in the lot but only saw one other person on the trail. Took the 0.5 mile Easy Loop, was a lovely little hike to the pond which has some benches and a dock, water was frozen over but melted on the surface. The entrance to the trail was a bit confusing, you can follow the road to the right past the sanctuary or for the easy loop just head to the left through a fenced area with some gates (could use some maintenance). However, the trails are well marked. Also, the trails could be a bit better maintained with several branches in the way. Was also quite slippery with all the wet leaves but no fault there.Would definitely recommend as a nice hike just a few minutes off I-684 (tho you do hear the rumble of cars but it’s definitely quieter by the pond).
I enjoyed a nice hike with the AMC today. The trail was beautiful. There were some ups and downs, but nothing too strenuous.
Nice spot for an easy to moderate level hike…lots of shaded areas, it’s pretty much all woods and although the trails are extensive there aren’t many viewing areas or really any change of scenery…we pretty much hiked in the woods for over 2 hours which can get a bit boring at times. Trails can be narrow at times, lots of changes in elevation so make sure to wear hiking shoes…lots of rocks and tree branches on the ground so I spend a significant amount of time looking at my feet to ensure I don’t trip. Highlights for me were finding lots of awesome mushrooms 🍄 in the woods. We saw some chipmunks and a snake and a bunch of frogs. Not a kid friendly spot or a spot for people with mobility issues. Enjoyed hiking here but probably wouldn’t return.
A great place to hike. They have different trail segments that are interconnected and at each location there is a map that lets you see where you are. There are also HOME signs that let you know how to return to the parking lot.
This place is gorgeous! We came in fall in mid October just in time to see the fall foliage and it is spectacular here. Beautiful high and low paths that are color coded and fairly easy to follow. Some of the terrain is suited for experienced or mildly experienced hikers and the up hill slopes can get a little brutal but its definitely worth the trek to get to the high points. Amazing views and very tranquil. We didn’t run into to many people along our hike. The park has its own parking lot and also its own park offices that have a nice clean restroom and also recycling for water bottles. Very well kept.
