FAQ for Huntington Woods in Bronx NY:
Beautiful views of the bay and Long Island Sound at the end of the trail. Straightforward access from park’s ample parking lot to main trail. Some marked trails are completely overgrown with waist high grass in mid-July. Still, very welcome nature reserve in dense urban area.
A nice little area of the Bronx to get away from the crowds. It’s a shame however that some don’t value their area and leave trash on the ground and in the water.
Easy walking, tons of birds
Quiet, undeveloped woodland with a path to a rocky mini-beach on Long Island Sound. Not a lot of people there — mostly locals walking their dogs. As others have noted, some visitors leave their beer cans behind, which detracts from the experience. Most of the foliage hadn’t turned color when I was there, probably because it’s warmer close to the Sound.
Because its true nature i love it. but it is a little messy the visitors come to enjoy the park and at the same time they leave trash at the place. if you are going to come over and enjoy the scenery or the walk don’t make it ugly for anyone else pick up after yourself…you guys know better you don’t want pick anything up don’t bring anything and drop it off…. we have to take care of this place. Sorry but this type of behavior is unacceptable.
