FAQ for Killens Pond State Park Nature Center in Felton Delaware:
Nice nature center. Be aware, Fall hours of operation are different than posted on their website
We aren’t from the area so we didn’t know what to expect. We wanted to take the dog for a walk, and we found a terrific 3 mile hike around the pond. The path was well marked, and pretty easy. There was some mild elevation change, but no stairs, and no steep hills. The nature center itself was immaculate. The building is designed to minimize impact to nature by using compost toilets, funneling rainwater to plants, and other thoughtful improvements. My only complaint is that I get charged double for admission because I live out of state. That really isn’t fair… I’m vacationing in Delaware and spending my money there, I shouldn’t be penalized.
UPDATE 7/2/2025:We still love coming to this park. We walk here at least three times a week, and see so much wildlife!___________________________________Love kayaking there, but the kids they have running the rentals aren’t that much help. Walked away as we were trying to dock and had to do everything ourselves.
We stayed in an adorable little cabin. I would highly recommend it.
The park is a beautiful area for walking and relaxing. Unfortunately, many people come to have barbecues with large speakers and play very loud music. It’s so loud that you can hear the noise from far away, which really takes away from the peaceful atmosphere.
