Beautiful Arkansas Lake (it opens up around the corner), and very quiet except for our echos from the granite cliffs. Water is very clear. Even has port-a-potties at entrance! It has public boar launch right here, but I had to bring my own mermaids!
Natural beauty at its best. I love that no motorized boats are allowed, or camping, or swimming. Lots of hiking trails and looks like it would be awesome for kayaking. Saw some fishing going on. Maybe not the best for little kids as some difficult spots on trails. Outhouses looked kinda rough.
Twenty years ago I brought my wife here on our first date. Now, back with our kids, it’s just as beautiful as it ever was.Lots of rock climbing and hiking trail opportunities around the lake. Dog friendly. Lots of neat rock formations around the lake. Port-o-potties and trash cans are on site. Didn’t see litter. Nice place still. Saw a neat fossil of some type.
Beautiful time of year to go! It took us about 1 hour to get halfway for the whole loop trail. Would take more than 2 hours to complete (leisurely 😁) full trail around lake. Dog friendly + parking lot was fine just a bit rocky/gravel. Saw goats and deer 🦌
