So here’s a little back story. When my dad was in the hospital I took his two dogs in from indiana. The female was already pregnant from the male. A few days before we had him fixed, he got my two females pregnant. One had a litter of two and one had a litter of seven, on top of the two from my dads dogs. The original two are back in indiana with my dad and we kept the puppies cause we are better equipped to take care of them. So in total we now have 14 dogs. 3 are ours and 11 are puppies. We tried rehoming the first two. We made posts, had a mini photoshoot and took pictures, no one was repsonding. So it got to the point where we had to call shelters. This one was luckily able to take one in. Upon arriving i was met with a friendly demeanor that quickly turned sour. The attitude and judgement I was faced with was disgraceful and disappointing. We have been doing the best we can for an unplanned situation. We asked for help and it was implied that I couldn’t take care of the dogs, that they all had worms. I took care of one previous litter and never knew they needed worm treament at 2 weeks. None of them ever had worms. But for some reason, according to the front desk lady, all of these dogs have worms. Even though we have an entire den we converted for them, we clean and mop multiple times a day, theyre fed and bathed and have toys. Theyre healthy and happy and my experience here was hurtful. Please adopt an animal because they deserve it, but do not praise this place. If they can’t have sympathy for humans, I question how they are treating these dogs.
This place takes great care of the animals. I’ve adopted two cats from here over the years and couldn’t be happier. It’s a No Kill too.
It had been a good while since I had visited paws and claws and I just must say I truly was blown away by the difference when I walked in the door. It didnt smell like a animal shelter at all. The air smelt so clean and pure and homey. You could feel the love in the shelter from the woman inside. All the animals looked so clean and healthy but most of all loved. You could definitely tell paws and claws made being in a kennel feel like not such bad of a place to have to be momentarily for the guests that stayed thier. Thier wasn’t rages of barking and doggies jumping on cahes and fences begging for attention or to be let out. They all appeared as happy as they could be and knew they were loved no matter thier situation and all waited patiently knowing they were going to get acknowledged and treated with compassion. It truly was so heart warming and touching. My biggest applaud goes to paws and claws pet shelter. Keep doing what you’ve been doing. I see a remarkable difference like no other shelter I’ve ever seen or heard of. Thier just isn’t enough words to describe just how amazing paws and claws has become and still yet is do all they can in becoming even better and more for those without a family.
