This SPCA used to take friendly adult cats to be adopted but now they won’t even take kittens over 8 weeks. This directly contradicts their current cat intake policy which states “”Do not bring them to the shelter before they are weaned from their mother, or after they are 8 weeks old.” Which is it`undefined`

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good selection of dogs and cats available for adoption to a loving home.

Absolutely horrible treatment of people there. My sister needed me to surrender her cat and they flat out refused to let me bring it in. They threatened to call the sheriff on me if I surrendered the cat to them. They told me to lock it in a room for two days to wait for another shelter to be open (literal animal abuse). They refused to show me their policy they claimed to have about not accepting cats if they were adopted somewhere else, when their policy about accepting cats is literally posted on their website. They were rude, and horrible. They also lied saying that if someone adopted an animal in Virginia and moved to California, they would have to fly the animal back to Virginia to surrender it. Absolute horse crap. If I could give 0 stars I would. They don’t deserve even one. I pray no decent person ever has to try and deal with them. Here’s their policy from their website for reference.

We found the perfect dog to adopt there. Great people doing a difficult job.

The new dog wash is very, very nice. I thought the station was too low, but then was shown that I could raise and lower it, so I could set it to the perfect height for me. Because of that, this was one of the best and easiest dog bath I’ve ever given my dog. Previously I’ve gone to Tractor Supply (various places) but the one in Lexington doesn’t have a dog wash, so I was delighted to find this one. ?, they give you every thing you need. I use my own bar shampoo (Wondercide), but they have lots of shampoos, lots of towels, protective apron. Clean and neat. If one had been available, I would have squeegeed the tub walls when we were done. Highly recommend!
