I come here once a week, sometimes more, to keep my dog socialized. I like it best out of the 4 dog parks I have been to in the area. It has a large dog and small dog separation. Both are huge, have water available for my dog, and have lots of mulch for ground cover. Both are shady with lots of tall trees and have big concrete tables to sit at. The dogs rule these tables😆. The city provides poop bags and places for trash and recycle. The area around the dog park is great for extended walking/hiking with your pet and family. There is a land bridge you can cross over Wurzbach Parkway to get to more public park. There are public restrooms in the park as well as porta-potties. My dog loves the abundance of squirrels and lizards to stalk as we walk on the many trails. Some are dirt and some are paved. There are deer around to see sometimes when they come out. Leashes are required outside of the dog parks.
I have a 6 month old daschhound who has missed out on her socialization skills in her training class so we are working on it now by coming to the park. I was definitely more nervous then I ever needed to be. All the fur moms and dads were so helpful and had great tips to help us.
The Park is nice, great space for run, clean, toys, water and space for dogs and humans.Dogs are great!Some humans don’t, you can find some delicate human and nervous reaction when her or his dog interact with other dog.Some humans are Clumsy and provoke fights between dogs, it’s a shame!My dog (standard Schnawtzer) was attacked by another dog twice his size because this human was pushing her own dog with her foot, this made them nervous and they started a fight that escalated with the screams of the lady who could not control her Old English Sheepdog, she is a tall white woman in her thirties, if you see them, for the safety of your dog and yourself, stay away.
This is the best dog park in San Antonio. It is huge and shaded which was what made us want to come the first time. Large and small dog park with plenty of room. Plenty of bags, people are pretty good at picking up poop. 3 water fountains. What kept us coming back is that there is almost always a group of dogs ready to play and have fun! We drive past several others just to get here but it is worth the drive for our pup. Would encourage you to check out the land bridge and urban ecology center while you’re there!
Hadn’t been to this park before. It has really big areas set out just for our furry family members. The dogs were all having a blast while Mommy or Daddy were taking a break, busy on their cells or visiting! The trails at this part of the parks system mostly feel awfully up hill going, so I didn’t care much for that, as I don’t care for “up” . The trails don’t appear to be marked often or clearly as to what comes next. For example, I didn’t figure out what trailhead came after the one I was on. The weather was awesome and although the sun was shining full force for 80* and even though the current season leaves the trees mostly bare, there was plenty of shade on the trails. I bet come the Spring, foliage throughout the park systems will be gorgeous! It’s so fun to ride for miles and have no worry for those silly cars thinking they have the right of way above bikers or walkers.
