River Road Dog Park: A Spacious Haven for Dogs in Rochester, Minnesota

Located conveniently at 62nd St NW, River Road Dog Park is a local favorite for pet owners looking for a large, open space for their furry friends to roam. This dog park in Rochester, Minnesota, boasts three expansive fenced-in areas, providing plenty of room for dogs to play, socialize, and exercise off-leash. While there isn’t a designated small dog area, smaller pups can often be found in the side pens, while larger and mixed groups use the central enclosure. The park is wheelchair accessible, has ample parking, and welcomes families with kids, making it an inclusive spot for the entire family to enjoy the outdoors.

Amenities include picnic tables, benches, and a unique natural play structure crafted from hollow logs, which is a hit with both dogs and their owners. A covered rain shelter offers some protection during wet weather, though shade is limited to a single large tree. While there is no running water available, community water bowls are kept on-site by regular visitors. Please note that poop bags are not provided, though trash bins are available for waste disposal. After heavy rain, be prepared for some muddy patches due to exposed dirt and holes.

This place is huge, great thing to have. Only downfall is too many snooty ppl who come and think that everyone es dogs are going to eat them or they just act like your a nobody because you don’t drive a bmw

Huge area to run.
Loved the hollow log jumble!

Lots of room for dogs to run. 4 stars because of the lack of shade – just one tree gives enough shade. The other owners and dogs were friendly.

I’m from New Hampshire and basically travel from dog park to dog park. 🐾 This place is great! Friendly pups, friendly people, huge, clean fenced-in areas with picnic tables, benches, a rain shelter, natural dog-attractions, and plenty of parking!

3 large fenced in areas, but no designated small dog area. Most of the time all the large dogs congregate in the center fence along with any small dogs whose owners wish to have in the large group. Side pens see less use and often the first one self selects to smaller dogs. No running water, but bowls are present and people tend to fill them. No poop bags provided, but dumpster on site. Moderate cleanliness. Fair amount of holes and exposed dirt means it can get muddy. Picnic tables and play structures with center pen having a great structure made of tree trunks with hollows.
