A nice park with some great trails, camping, and if you have a fraction of mountain goat in your DNA, make the trek to Rose Island. Their website is awful. Just go to the visitor center. Clean restrooms there, too. Facilities are at a minimum throughout.

Really made the trip to check out Rose island, but the overall it was an amazing place to visit.

NULL.00 out of state day pass. NULL.00 if you are a resident of Indiana. A gorgeous place to spend an afternoon. We had a wonderful time taking a 10+ mile hike to check out all the trails here at Charlestown State Park. This place is filled with so much history we didn’t know existed. My friend and I truly enjoyed the entire park. Rose island is a definite must see place. The entire park is beautiful and well kept. We even checked out the playground because I love the swings. Truly an awesome place to spend time.

This does require payment at the gate! I live out of state and it was NULL for the day. There was plenty of parking the day I went. The bathroom area was clean. Dogs welcomed on-leash. The paths were well maintained. Honestly it wasn’t very populated which is always my preference. There were many picnic tables in various areas and benches to sit and take a break. I do advise the paved road to and from the island is very steep and will get your heart rate up! Please be careful. It isn’t really far and the path for that is very clear. Some of the areas had playing equipment but I was there for trails. I chose trail 3 and the island and it was a great hike. Go enjoy!

Really nice state park for camping, hiking, and local historical Rose Island Abandoned Theme Park. Hiking trails are really diverse and scenic. Campground available along with picnic areas and boat launch to Ohio river. Very large park and close to several southern Indiana cities and Louisville, KY.
