White/Kauneonga Lake is a nice place to paddle provided you do so off-season. During the summer, especially on weekends, this is a very busy motorboat lake with many jetskiiers. The launch area has quite a lot of parking, but can fill quickly with trucks and boat trailers. The launch is nice with a concrete ramp and dock for trailered boats, and a separate sandy beach for kayaks and canoes. There are no amenities here, but a small business district nearby with eateries and free public parking. The lake itself is pleasant, but not rustic as it has houses, cottages, businesses amd so on on most shorelines. For more natural locations, visit nearby Lake Superior State Park, Rio Reservoir or Mongaup Pond. Water quality is good and clear, perhaps as there is a local sewer district and less septic seep. Luna, my little dog, and I saw a bald eagle and a blue heron. The lake was once a fishing mecca and still attracts anglers. Swimming is prohibited at this launch, which is the only public lake access. Lake Superior SP has a better beach and is a short drive away.

The boat launch only has a single launching area there are no amenities here no picnic area or ice machines or gas pumps. You’ll need to get those things before you come to the launch. There is an Italian restaurant a couple hundred feet away where you can get pizza or subs or wings and drinks. It does have a nice paved parking area

So fun… and not expensive but rich in experience!

It’s a little congested but not bad. Police deputies were doing a great job.

The lake is nice, but people are leaving their trash everywhere and the portapotty has been used and abused 🤢🤮
