An underrated part of the Butts Park experience is that it’s named after a guy named Harry Butts.There is a scaled model of the Mississippi River that takes up several acres in the woods in there. It’s fully dried up, full of pine needles, and snakes through abandoned homeless encampments, dilapidated buildings, and dump sites. It’s from some science experiments from the 60s or something?And this is either the location of or near the location of the Japanese internment camps of Clinton, Mississippi in WWII.It’s a cool, quiet, eerie place to walk, but I wouldn’t go alone. Don’t try to drive your sedan too far from the parking lots or you’ll get stuck in a pothole.
