Absolutely worth the price of admission!The entire village is a must-see for anyone interested in urban exploration or abandoned structures in general. As far as legal options for urbex go, this has got to be the best option in the entire state.The gentleman who owns the town is fantastic – I made a passing remark that I had bought two tickets and that my buddy couldn’t come, and he immediately refunded me for the other ticket without me even asking.Almost every building in the village is accessible, so it’s definitely worth spending the extra money to get the full four-hour tour option.Fair warning – many of the buildings have areas with broken flooring, and there is a lot of animal droppings. Almost every door and window is open, so the risk of black mold isn’t as high as you might think, but the risk is still there.I highly recommend long pants, a good pair of boots, and PPE like a painter’s mask.
Latif and his wife were very welcoming. My wife and I did the 4 hour access and it was well worth it. 1 hour doesn’t allow the time you need to take in everything. Like others have stated, wear old, closed toed shoes. You’ll see why.This is a unique slice of a few time periods in America.The architecture and the stories of the people that lived here. I had the pleasure of filming and directing a music video at Yellow Dog Village. The owner/staff were very friendly and the pricing for a full day (8 hours) was fair. We had the whole village to use as a set, both inside and outside the houses. Safe to say we will be using this location again in the near future!
Yellow Dog Village is a fascinating place. The owners and staff are extremely welcoming and clearly passionate about preserving the village’s story. This place is absolutely worth the visit. (Keep in mind, there are numerous sheep and goats and Zelda the friendly cat and some geese…wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.)
10/10 worth a visit if you’re experienced into touring abandoned places or just getting your feet wet in that aspect. They give you a ten minutes talk beforehand with some history and safety tips and then it’s really a free for all. The places are definitely abandoned with animals having some free range, so it is dirty, messy, and cluttered, as we expected!We were allowed to bring our ten year old kids, which was so awesome. I think this town created a core memory for them and I am so grateful we went. Totally worth the trip!
