June Lake is a nice little hike to June Lake. It is about 2.5 mile out and back hike to the lake. It is an easy hike and a nice wide trail most of the way. A good hike for the whole family and your dog. The lake has a nice 40 foot waterfall at the far end. Also this is a great starting point if you want to backpack around the mountain along the Loowit Trail which is about a 30 mile hike. The trailhead has a nice paved parking lot but not a lot of parking if you go there during the summer.I do have a YouTube channel that has this and many more hikes around the Pacific Northwest if you care to check it out @PNW-Rush

Hiked with friends and Buddy Boy (the dog) to June Lake on July 4, 2023. The hike was an easy 2.9 mile out-and-back from the trailhead. Not surprisingly, it was somewhat busy with hikers and dogs. June Lake is located on the south side of Mt. St. Helens just inside Mount St. Helens NVM (National Volcanic Monument). The trailhead, however, is located outside the NVM in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. June Lake is beautiful, surrounded by trees and lava fields with a 70-foot waterfall on the far side. We had hoped to get a view of Mt. St. Helens, but were only able to get a glimpse of the mountain from along the trail. Being somewhat determined, we decided we needed to find a spot with a view of Mt. St. Helens. So, we drove down forest road 83 and up forest road 81 to a spot where we were able to find a picnic spot with a great view of the mountain and some gnarly lava fields in the foreground

June lake is a beautiful, easy hike along a shady path lined with huckle berries. At the end you are treated with exelent views of the mountain and a large waterfall pooring onto a small lake. It is well worth the time and effort.

We went snowshoeing here in mid December. The weather was perfect, we were expecting rain but we had full sun until we left. We walked for about 1 1/2 hrs and we reached the small waterfall. The views were amazing but if you get really close to the water it starts smelling like a pond. Although a sign asks no snowmobiles and other ‘vehicles’ there were many people there with their snowmobiles, so watch out! I would recommend this place it’s a slight incline and a simple hike…but make sure to bring proper clothing and a hat, it does get cold!

The parking lot for June Lake is not very large but I managed to find a place to park my campervan down the road that leads to the lot. The trail to June Lake is about 1.7 miles to the lake. It took us an hour to get to the lake- with three year old and five year old. The lake is fairly shallow and full of moss and has three waterfalls trickling into it. There is one large waterfall that is absolutely striking. The colors around the lake are so pretty. The kids found periwinkles that were filling the bottom of the lake. People hike into this lake and camp. It’s a neat little camping area.
