beautiful hike in the spring and summer but very difficult. The view is worth it.

AMAZING views especially with the wildflowers at the lookout. We took the hard path up and the “easier” path down. Only went to the lookout and didn’t bother continuing the last stretch based on other reviews. Also a nice addition was the number of people who brought their dogs. Lots of good/well-behaved pups were going up and down and looked very happy!

Dog Mountain has three trails to the summit, with the loop around Augspurger Trail. If I remember the Augspurger Trail isn’t as steep as the other trails. At the top, views are worth the hard work getting up there. Views are the area of mountains and the Columbia River below. The view is spectacular, but the danger of falling from steep trails is possible.

Visited this place mid-May which is the best time for wild flowers! Loved the views of the gorge as well as the yellow flowers covering the mountain. Parking is very limited and needs to be reserved well in advance during the months of May and June. There is a shuttle option available for those who aren’t able to reserve a spot.
