FAQ for Bark Yard in Springfield Missouri:
They required my dog to be neutered to onboard, which makes total sense so that is what I did. I dropped him off a week and a half after him getting neutered to stay for 3 nights. I specifically told them to keep his cone/neck pillow on at all times to prevent licking/infection. In the pictures they posted on Facebook of the dogs, they did NOT have his cone on. picking him up, no cone on. I received my dog back and his neck had AWFUL risen, red and black scars. Like he was BADLY cut or scraped on his neck. Those were NOT there when I dropped him off. There was dried blood on his neck aswell. When I dropped him off he had a little of irritation on the neck but having a cone on his neck all day will do that. It would NOT scab as bad as it did with it on. I then checked his incision. It was green and yellow, opening, and had puss. Clearly, infected from not having his cone on. He obviously got to licking it since he didn’t have his cone on. Staff said they had eyes on him at all times. They usually have 2-3 people with the dogs at all times. BUT with upwards of 20+ dogs together there is no possible way to watch him at all times. This being said; I do NOT recommend this place. If you care about your dog or your dog has special requirements and requests, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you to NOT board them here. I will be contacting management to have them pay for my dogs vet visits on their behalf because of their negligence and lying. Totally unacceptable and cannot believe I paid upwards of NULL for this care. (THESE PHOTOS I HAVE ADDED ARE AS OF NOW, WHILE WRITING THIS.)
Bark Yard is simply amazing and greatly helped us out. We went on an impromptu trip out of state and needed a multi-day safe stay for our pup. It was very last minute planning; this place had immediate availability! I have to specifically mention that the staff communication here was beyond phenomenal. I reached out by email a few times and received immediate and attentive responses. As I’m sure everyone knows, most businesses do not provide this; so being made such a priority stood out to us. There was quite a bit of paperwork to fill out, and I’m stating this as a positive. My dog is my entire world, so I appreciated how thoroughly the employees wanted to get to know her before she arrived onsite. Luckily we had all of her vaccination records, too. Like with most boarding facilities, you’ll need the Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP shots up to date. They also have a really incredible outdoor play area here, which you’ll see when you drive up! I don’t have a single complaint about anything. Our baby was in such a great mood when we picked her up, so it was apparent that she had a blast. We would definitely trust this place again in the future!!
We have been taking our dogs to Bark Yard since day one, four times a week in more recent years, and have nothing but high praise for the amazing staff that works there. The staff really cares about our small dogs Bear and Sage, who both are ALWAYS so excited to go there in the mornings. We are always looking forward to seeing their daycare picture updates on the Facebook group! Boarding has also always been a fantastic experience for our dogs, who get to have a safe and fun stay in their clean and comfortable facilities. Bathing and grooming are also top-notch, and shouldn’t be passed up! Not to mention, there are always fun programs and incentives to donate for pets in need, with opportunities for free daycare days! Cannot rave enough about the wonderful people behind Bark Yard, and the excellent experience we (and our dogs) have had! Can’t wait for the expansion to complete!
We LOVE bark yard! We are founding member there and have stayed because the staff are awesome, the facilities are awesome and my dog is always so excited to go (and so tired when picked up). My dog used to have a lot of anxiety being left home and Bark Yard was a place he could go and have fun, eventually his anxiety decreased and now he just goes for fun or when we’re away, but he does a lot better at home alone. Super grateful for Bark Yard. Plus, we love the events and being able to get in beverage and snack in the summer months 😊
I’ve been a member of Bark Yard for just about 2 years and I can’t say enough about the quality of the facility overall and the staff. I take my mini schnauzer, Max to Daycare two days a week and never have to worry about his care. They love him and always greet him with a smile…and that means the world to me. I also LOVE that they post pictures of the Daycare Dog Crew each day on Facebook. 🙂 We also love the dog park…it’s has interactive things for the dogs to jump on and through which is a something some dog parks lack. Max and I love BARK YARD!!
