Park-9 Dog Bar stands out as a premier dog park and social spot located in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. This innovative, LGBTQ and women-owned establishment combines a vibrant, pet-friendly bar atmosphere with designated dog play areas, offering both leashed and off-leash zones for your pup to socialize and play. Known for its family-friendly and inclusive environment, Park-9 features modern amenities such as pools and splash pads for dogs, plenty of seating for owners, and bar games for everyone to enjoy. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance, gender-neutral restrooms, and WiFi, it’s a welcoming community space for everyone in the Fenway area.
The venue is clean and well maintained, with attentive staff ensuring a safe environment for dogs and their humans. While the park does require up-to-date vaccination documentation for all canine visitors, this adds an extra layer of safety. Owners will appreciate the availability of both food and drink (including beer, wine, and cocktails), making Park-9 Dog Bar the perfect place to relax while your furry friend socializes. Paid garage, lot, and street parking are available, though availability may vary, especially on busy days in Boston. If you’re looking for a unique dog-friendly spot combining play, community, and great refreshments, Park-9 is a top pick.
I rarely leave bad reviews, but I personally had a bad experience here. First of all, they forgot to ask me to pay, which is an easy mistake to make, I guess. They ended up coming into the dog park area and I gave them my credit card information.
There is one person watching around 12 dogs which is too much load on one individual. People come here and drink and completely disregard their own dogs, trusting the one stranger in charge of wrangling the dogs to handle it. Owners should be watching their own dog as much as they can. My dog was humped at least 6 times, by 2-3 dogs. The dog wrangler would pull the dog off my dog, that dog would circle around, and come right back in to do some more humping. They would try to pull the dog off every time, but the behavior did not cease. I think dogs who are really in the humping mood should be temporarily separated and wait until their mood passes. They should employ some trainers or people who understand dog psychology to intervene and give dogs a break.
My dog also drank the water here and had diarrhea for four days. I had to wake up every 1-2 hours the first two nights to take him out. With lots of dogs sharing bowls, it is easy to share bad bacteria.
Their process to upload vaccine documentation online has some errors, so even if you tried to save time by uploading it first, they have to redo it in person.
To have a membership, they require to have your credit card on file and it automatically renews, although you can ask them to set an end date which is nice.
I will update my review if I return and have a better experience. 2 hours after my review, a bunch of 5 star reviews came in with all very similarly structured content. I suspect these are bots (since it’s the only review they ever posted) or it’s friends of people affiliated with the company. Note: this review published an entire year later rather than the time I wrote it.
awesome experience at a unique dog bar. both leashed and off leashed zones. clean and nice staff. pup had a blast
The team at Park-9 has done it again! As someone who doesn’t have a dog, it’s the ideal place to spend a summer afternoon and evening. With pools and splash pads for the doggos, and plenty of tables and chairs, cornhole, and great drinks for the humans…will be spending soooo much time here all summer 😎
This place is amazing. Drinks are great, the atmosphere is great, and the dogs have a lot of fun.
The only issue is parking in the area. They could partner with a parking venue for some discounted parking, or etc.
To come here and spend NULL on a beer you must spend another NULL to admit your dog,
when you could go to literally any place with outdoor dining, and do the same for free.
Also, I wasn’t allowed in because I didn’t have copies of my dog’s vaccination status. I’m sure this makes complete sense legally and for insurance purposes, but if you didn’t already know this, you are supposed to have gone to their website clicked to their Fenway location and scrolled down three screens to see the entry requirements for a dog, even though they have *dog* in their name. After having traveled an hour to get here and expressed my frustration at this information not being well publicized, their front facing employee just argued with me and assured me that I’ve seen pop-up notifications that didn’t exist.
Your dog entry requirements are literally stricter than any other bar with a patio I’ve ever been to and you don’t advertise it well.
Cool. Won’t be coming back.
