Its so peaceful and the area is beautiful! Joe knows a lot about the history of the area- I went alone and Joe told me the most interesting stories. Joe has it beautiful and simple and there’s everything you need. I felt very comfortable staying here. Joes dog Airbud is super cute and friendly too. I am definitely going back for another hiking trip!
I stayed for a night to getaway and I was very relaxed. Joe and his companion, Airbud, were good hosts. He got me firewood, helped me pitch my tent and put up the hammock for me. I was very pleased. Thank you Joe, I’ll definitely be back.
It’s like a small oasis and close to downtown. It’s worth a visit/stay.
Great campsite right off the Towpath! My partner and I stayed here for one night during our cross-country bike tour. Joe was easy to communicate with, is full of knowledge, and just a really nice guy. You can tell he’s put a lot of thought into the campground with the little details like solar lights under the umbrellas, along the pathways, in the port-a-potty – which is super clean. There’s potable water and firepits along with trash and recycling(!!) at each site. Access to the Towpath allows for an easy ride into town for food/drink.
This camp is a very nice place to stay when in bolivar , whether you are hiking , biking, traveling or kayaking I would highly recommend this spot to camp. The owner Joe is very caring of his campground. Also he has a vast amount of knowledge of the history of the area. Make sure you ask him about what the last was like in his area. I stayed there back in March 2021 and will return many more times as I love the area. Thank you for having the campsite for nature lovers like myself Joe !!!
Wonderful place to camp right on the trail! Joe, the host, is a very kind man with lots of great stories to share. He knows a lot about the local history, right down to key events that happened right on his yard. Wifi worked great, and the sites are pretty. The only thing that woke me up was the train that only came by once during the night, but other than that all I heard was coyotes, crickets, and cicadas. In the morning there were humming birds flying around the bushes.
