Eagle Park is a scenic dog park located in Harrisburg, Oregon, just south of the city by the Willamette River. This natural area is known for its pet-friendly trails, multiple fishing ponds, and easy river access. Dog owners enjoy the separate fenced areas designed for both large and small dogs, allowing for safe, off-leash play. The park is currently in development, so amenities are basic, but the peaceful, open space makes it popular for dog-friendly hiking, kayaking, and rock hounding. Visitors appreciate the park’s relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity for dogs to swim in the river or ponds after a stroll on the trails.
While Eagle Park does not have restrooms, picnic tables, or formal playgrounds, there is a trash can for pet waste and the promise of more improvements in the future. Bring your own seating and be prepared to pack out your trash to help keep this beautiful park clean. Local dog owners love the opportunity for dogs to explore the natural surroundings, play, and cool off in the water, making it one of the most beloved and authentic outdoor dog parks in the Harrisburg area.
I’ve caught a few nice sized bass plus some crappie and blue gills. I use Bass plugs and worms and it’s a great place to learn how to flyfish

The surrounding area is nice for walking. There several ways to access the Willamette river. Also, there is several ponds south of pet area. There is a fenced area for pets divided into two sections, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. No restrooms only a trash can for disposing of pet waste.

I’ve lived in H’burg for 15 (16.5 @ time of 1st edit, 12*2024) years, and Spring/Summer of ’23 is the first I’ve ever spent any time near the Willamette River! I couldn’t stay away!! 😀 I recommend Eagle Park Ponds to anyone who understands that sometimes, the beauty of a “park” is seen when it’s not been overtaken by a bunch of concrete , metal, plastic, fiberglass, tar, etc. This park is in the process of development and has not yet been laden with all of the unnatural things that will overtake it eventually! The Ponds used to belong to Knife River, and as such, there are tubes under the water connecting the ponds. I was told that the tubes were for filtering purposes for Knife River. One of the ponds opens into the Willamette River, which is great for kayaking! You can drop in at the ‘boat drop’ at the pond and just kayak into the river when you’re ready. You can swim🏊♀️, fish🎣, picnic, fly kites🪁, sun bathe, snorkel🤿, pick blackberries when they’re in season, look for some of the most beautiful rocks that tumble down in the river from the Cascades, etc. Bring the family, even your dogs are welcome as long as you clean up after them and keep them controlled and supervised. There are many people who frequent this park and what it offers. This mars the beauty of the park. There are not any restrooms or trashcans yet. They’re coming at some point.
