Hazard Recreation Center is a sprawling, multi-purpose park located in East Los Angeles, California. While not a dedicated dog park, its extensive green spaces and walking paths make it a convenient spot for dog owners searching for pet-friendly areas to walk and play with their furry companions. The park is close to the USC+LAC Medical Center and offers a family-friendly atmosphere, making it a great destination for those looking for recreational activities alongside pet outings.
The park features basketball, tennis, and handball courts, a skate park, a baseball field, and exercise equipment scattered along the walkways. There are picnic tables, a playground for kids, and plenty of open spaces to relax. However, shade is limited, so visitors may want to bring their own canopy on sunny days. Parking is noted to be limited and mostly street-based, so plan ahead. Hazard Recreation Center is particularly popular for families seeking playground fun and locals searching for dog-friendly walking options in Los Angeles.

Its good park , well kept but there is time that the high school student will take over the tennis court. The school said they have permit and we have to give them the space.

Big park. Great for taking walks and having events. No big shaded areas. There are tables and seats alongside a grill, but you would need your own canopy. There are playgrounds and exercise equipment along the walkway. Basketball and tennis courts are together, but I think they can take the net down when necessary. Pretty well maintain baseball field. The recreation center offers a wide variety of classes throughout the year for kids too 👍🏽. The skatepark is filled with graffiti but usually empty. The handball courts are home to some people, but they are in one corner of the park and seem to keep to themselves. Parking is bad though. It has a small lot for maybe 10 to 12 cars, but employees use it, so you gotta park on the road if you can find a spot. It’s also next to a school and a medical library since it’s close to usc+lac hospital.

Sizable recreation Center with a lot to offer. Basketball courts, baseball field, a playground, and lots of green space to chill or picnic.
I visited the park one early morning and there were some school students playing the park by themselves, they looked so happy. That just put a smile on my face.
