Wannamaker Dog Park is a spacious and well-maintained spot for dog owners in North Charleston, SC looking for a safe and fun environment for their pets. The park features separate areas for large and small dogs and a shared splash pad in the middle, where pups of all sizes can cool off. Shaded spots provided by large awnings offer respite from the Lowcountry heat, and the grounds are kept clean and welcoming for everyone.
This dog park is located within Wannamaker County Park, which features paved and unpaved pet-friendly trails perfect for dog-friendly hiking. Dog washes near the restrooms, accessible facilities for wheelchairs, and picnic areas make it a truly inclusive experience for both dogs and their families. The park is kid-friendly, offers public restrooms, and is well worth a visit for anyone seeking a top-rated dog park in the Charleston area.
Really well maintained area. Nicely shaded areas provided by large awnings in both the splash and play areas. 2 separate areas, one for under 20 and the other for larger dogs however, the water area is quite small and in a circle which doesn’t provide any type of “break-in space” for first-timers. Introduced our 2 year old Schnoodle to the splash area on a leash as he is very skiddish meeting dogs for the first time but warms up quickly. Unfortunately with the water area being so small he just wasn’t able to relax so after trying to dodge the bombardment of the dogs that were not told to “play elsewhere” by their owners, literally not one command such as “hey get over here, stay by me” so….. It’s truly a shame that the dogs were actually far friendlier than their owners. I so wanted him to enjoy playing whilst staying cool in the HOT Lowcountry heat. May try again and hang out in the play area waiting for a time that no other dogs are in the splash paws area.
Great dog park. I do wish they had a pool in there for dogs that don’t like the splash pad. Doesn’t even have to be deep. Other than that the park is great.
Really wonderful dog park. It has a small dog side and a large dog side. And then in the middle it has a splash pad for dogs. Both sizes can play together in the splash pad. Over by the restrooms there is also a dog wash.
My dog loves coming here. We feel safe and it is well kept. She loves the splash pad.
Met at the dog park with a Meetup group. Beautiful paved trails for a drizzly day! They also have unpaved trails. Didn’t know so much gorgeous green space was available so close! They have paddle boats to rent as well. Very cool. Dog park was HUGE!
Highly recommend NULL per person for a day pass.
