Through multiple email exchanges I made arrangements for 100 cups of ice cream to be delivered to a pool party on July 13 from Hometown Scoops.. As early as May 1st, Hometown wrote “Thanks for getting back to me! I’m happy to help clarify everything:
In an email I was told “We will provide the cups on the day of the party. If the date changes due to weather, we’d simply reschedule delivery for the new confirmed date.
You can choose how many cups you’d like to order, and that’s the amount we will prepare and deliver. Just let us know the final count when you’re ready.”
A total of 10 emails were exchanged including a request a few days before the event asking whether or not spoons would be provided.
I left a message on July 12 to verify the delivery and contact information. My tel # was included on multiple email exchanges.
Hometown did not deliver our ice cream With absolutely no communication they just could not be bothered to show up.
Under no circumstances would I ever recommend Hometown Scoops for any special event.
In spite of 10 email exchanges Hometown decided that the “details surrounding this particular request raised concerns that made it difficult for us to move forward confidently. Unfortunately, due to limited context and uncertainty, we made the decision not to proceed with the delivery. In hindsight, I recognize that I should have been more direct about our concerns and limitations instead of allowing the situation to remain unclear.”
10 emails were exchanged and at any time they could have contacted me.
A more bogus excuse would be hard to find – it does not matter how good the product is if the service is this lousy.

After a slight miscommunication I was able to get what I had ordered and enjoy its awesome goodness. The staff all were very nice and promptly got it straightened out. It wasn’t a big deal at all to me but it made me feel good knowing the amount of care and professionalism I was shown. As always. Keep up the good work

Best ice cream around this area, no competition. The ice cream is so much more flavorful and enjoyable than the generic soft serve you get from fast food joints or even the hand-dipped you get from other local shops. Last summer, we visited the shop weekly, and we really liked that there were almost always new flavors to try. The outdoor atmosphere is enjoyable, with tons of yard games for kids and adults to enjoy.
We got shakes just tonight, and they were awesome. Perfect consistency, great balance between ice cream, milk, and mix-ins. If you haven’t tried this place, you need to! It’s less than a block away from Historic Congress Square!
