Levin (John) Park is a neighborhood park located in the Austin area of Chicago, Illinois. While not specifically a designated dog park, this green space is known for its spacious grounds and updated playground, offering room for on-leash walks and activities for both kids and families. Although there isn’t a mention of a dedicated fenced dog run, pet owners enjoy bringing their dogs here to enjoy the open space, particularly those seeking a convenient local spot for exercise and socialization.
The park features a newer playground, making it a popular destination for families with children as well. While reviews note that the park is generally clean and safe, some visitors have reported limited garbage cans and the need for sidewalk upgrades, which may influence accessibility. If you’re searching for a dog-friendly park with pet-friendly amenities in Chicago, Levin (John) Park offers an accessible option, though visitors should bring their own water and waste bags for their pets. Shade and shelter are limited—so plan accordingly on sunny days.

One of the dirtier, unkept Chicago park district locations( probably bcus it’s located in the Austin neighborhood) but yeah, at least the playground was newer and up to date but the park as a whole is, was a complete mess. Chicago can do better, no matter what neighborhood.

The location was ok. If you didn’t have a tent, the sun was going to get you. I would recommend atleast one shelter per arean rented provided by the park. There was ample room & we were spread out enough where every party could have had atleast one shelter. It was a church function so there were a lot of us including kids but we couldn’t play as much for fear of stepping on dog poo. Now I understand, because of the area, that would be hard to control but people need to be held accountable.
