University Village Dog Park in Chicago, Illinois

University Village Dog Park offers a convenient urban spot for letting your dog off-leash in the heart of Chicago. This fenced-in dog park is mostly concrete, making it easy to clean, though some visitors mention debris or rocks on occasion. While the park can be a bit tricky to find—access appears to be through private property signage—the space gives city pups a secure area to run and stretch their legs.

Dog owners will find basic amenities including a bench and a water fountain (though the fountain may sometimes have debris) as well as a trash can and a doggie bag dispenser for waste. Though the park is small and has a short fence, it’s popular for quick off-leash time, especially for local residents looking for a safe place to let their dogs exercise. If you’re searching for a simple dog park in Chicago for off-leash play, University Village Dog Park fits the bill, but take caution on the hard paved ground and keep an eye on your pup’s paws.

This place has no greenery, a short fence, and was hard to find because I need we d to go through a place that said ‘private property or something like that. Didn’t know so I walked more than a but out of my way to find the place. Anyhow, it was a place to let my dog of leash and there weren’t any other dogs so he didn’t have to hold back. I considered that a bonus. Better than no off-leash at all!

This is just a fenced in area. The ground is all concrete and there is often rocks and debris and my dog cut her paw once. We used to come here to play, now we only sometimes come for a little off leash time but try to be careful on the concrete. There is a bench, trash can, water fountain (often has dirt/pine needles in it) and doggie bag dispenser.
