Sacred ground in St Johnsbury. It was a beautiful 3 hour drive from my home in Southern Vermont and the mountains and skies of Vermont are always beautiful to my eyes. Dog Mountain is the pinnacle of northern Vermont beauty. It is a peaceful and tranquil place to meditate for all those dogs that have crossed or will cross the rainbow bridge. My pup who was my companion yesterday knew it was sacred ground the moment we arrived. Of course, “All Dogs Have A Soul”. It is self-evident.

Awesome place!
Nice trails for a good hike (1 mile blue trail, 1.5 mile yellow trail).
Then back down to the store and chapel.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Great feels in the chapel.

Have been here many times. Our last visit was for the dog party on June 21. It was our first time there for a party and it was a lot of fun. So many dogs running free. The chapel is a beautiful place especially if you have recently lost a dog. Great for meditation and just to read all of the tributes. Our Sadie really enjoyed her day at the party!

We stopped at Dog Mountain on our way to ski at Jay Peak. What a treasure! We walked the trails with our dog, and saw several happy dogs sledding with their families. Throughout the grounds are dog statues and weathervanes designed by artist Steven Huneck. The chapel and gift shop were great. Highly recommend for a stop.

Visiting Dog Mountain and The Dog Chapel has been on my bucket list for quite some time. My husband and I recently visited Vermont (from North Carolina) and we were so thrilled to finally experience Dog Mountain for ourselves. We hope to travel back (with our dogs) in the future!
