Smokey Bear Park in Gainesville, Florida is a local favorite for families looking for a relaxing and shaded spot in the northeast area of town. With beautiful tall pines providing ample shade and a variety of playground equipment, including what many call the tallest slides in town, this park offers a great environment for children and dogs alike. Conveniently located at 2300 NE 15th St, it’s a welcoming spot for playdates, picnics, and outdoor fun. While the park is known for its child-friendly amenities, dog owners enjoy the pet-friendly setting and natural surroundings perfect for a stroll with their furry friend.
While Smokey Bear Park isn’t a dedicated fenced dog park, it does offer open green spaces shaded by pines, making it a refreshing spot for dog walks and informal play. Families regularly host parties and spend time on the playground, and there’s some seating under the trees for owners to relax while watching their children or pets. Note that restrooms are present but may not always be open, and parking is available but not directly adjacent to the main play area, so a brief walk is necessary to access the fun. For those seeking a blend of play, relaxation, and pet-friendly outdoor enjoyment, Smokey Bear Park remains a hidden gem in Gainesville.

The park use to be one of our favorites but it’s very unclean. You can’t play in the playground without getting swarmed by flies. One of the slides has a giant hole in it and is taped off.

Nice playground with tall slides, probably the tallest in town! Bathrooms were messy, but worst of all there were people doing drugs, smoking and drinking at the picnic tables- cussing and yelling at each other. Would not recommend, does not feel safe.

A hidden gem of a park in NE Gainesville. Beautiful tall pines give shade to this child friendly area. Kids will love the multi level sky fort play structure. Make sure to walk around the Rotary Club gear also.
