Located on Smithland Road, the Harrisonburg Parks and Rec Dog Park provides a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for dogs of all sizes. This dog park in Harrisonburg, VA, features three separate, fully fenced areas: one for small dogs (under 30 pounds), one for large dogs (30 pounds and over), and a combined area for all dogs, making it easy for every pup to enjoy off-leash fun.
Dog lovers will appreciate amenities such as free poop bags, benches and shaded areas for relaxing, agility obstacles, and water access (available seasonally). The park is wheelchair accessible, offers plenty of parking, and provides a portable toilet for human guests. Whether your pup is shy or highly social, the thoughtfully divided play zones and well-maintained grounds offer a perfect spot for exercise, socialization, and dog-friendly adventures in the Shenandoah Valley.
I started taking my new dog to the dog park in March of 2025. He was 8 months old. The dogs and owners have been friendly. It has helped my dog to get socialized and work out some energy.
There are big rocks he can jump on, big spaces to run and walk around, shady spaces, and a few benches to sit on. The entry is safe. There are metal water bowls but no water source directly in the allndogs dog park. I usually bring my own.
There are fresh water sources a short walk away from the all dogs park and also in the above 30 pound and below 30 pound areas of the park.
We have found the park a nice way to spend an hour.
Always friendly, and MOST of the folks who go here are very good about picking up after their dogs. The separate runs, alloted for differing weight ranges , also allows for those who have pets whose behavior makes them prickly, to still manage a sociable visit.
Such a nice area for pups. There are 3 individual areas for your dog: Less than 30 pounds, 30 pounds and up (these two are separated by a fence), and one for all dogs at the top. Bags are provided, and it’s really clean/well maintained. My dog is afraid of other dogs (and just about everyone and everything else) — but if you hit it at the right time, you can get the whole place to yourself.
Great dog park with a small dog, large dog, and all dogs area. Plenty of parking and has a port potty for humans. 🙂
Absolutely wonderful parks; there are 3 massive spaces for dogs, all fenced in. One for small (less than 30 pounds) and one for big dogs. There are some obstacles for the dogs to play around and benches for people to sit.
Definitely recommend stopping by!
Water available until November 9th, there is a portable toilet. There are free poop bags for the dogs.
