If you’re searching for a pet-friendly trail near Navarre, Ohio, Towpath Trail-John Glenn Grove Trailhead is a fantastic option. Located along the scenic Ohio Erie Towpath and Tuscarawas River, this trail offers plenty of opportunities for dog-friendly hiking, biking, birdwatching, and wildlife spotting. Dog owners will appreciate the flat, well-maintained paths that are perfect for leisurely walks or longer adventures with their furry friends.
This dog park and trailhead stands out for its accessibility and peaceful atmosphere. The entrance and parking lot are wheelchair accessible, and there’s ample parking (including for horse trailers). Benches are spaced about a mile apart, giving visitors plenty of places to rest and enjoy the surroundings. While there isn’t a fenced dog area or separate zones for large and small dogs, dogs are welcome on-leash throughout the trail. Families will find kid-friendly hikes and public restrooms at the site, making it a great choice for a day outdoors with both pets and children.
You can go as far as you’d like or turn around easily. It’s a beautiful trail. It’s also great for bicycles (tire pump with adapters) and horses (parking is good too). There are benches posted about a mile apart, and everyone we’ve ever walked past was polite. You’ll definitely see geese, but all kinds of critters to see in the water, tree line, and field; depending on when you go, of course.
Decent trailhead, well maintained but the restroom is a portapotty which always is awful.
Fun place for a quick walk or longer hike. The trail is mostly flat. It follows the Ohio Erie Towpath and Tuscarawas River. The is some occasional wildlife to see, deer, fox, geese, and if you’re lucky an eagle once in a while. MAKE SURE YOU BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY. In the summer mosquitos are abundant.
I really like this section of the towpath. We saw a lot of turtles and frogs. There was a muskrat eating in the canal. There were not a lot of people.
We did a 4 mile bike ride round trip , had to turn around cause of flooding but still very nice ride. We seen alot of turtles and ppl hiking the trails.
