Great parking area to access the Delaware and Raritan Canal Trail. The lot is small but rarely full. The trail is very well maintained. Elevated cinders, never muddy, as long as the canal itself isn’t flooded after a heavy rain. The trail is great for hiking, walking, jogging, biking, birding, and even horseback riding. As you walk the trail one can’t help but marvel at the engineering of the canal.

Nice scenic bike ride about 11 miles north to the Rutgers campus. You’ll be better off with wider tires and a suspension; there are some short rough stretches that will punish narrow tires. The views of the river and abandoned canal infrastructure are lovely, particularly on a crisp autumn day.
