🐾 How to Handle Aggressive Dogs at the Dog Park – Real Advice from Dog Owners
Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
Ark Park in Gloucester, VA is a convenient spot for local dog owners and families looking for a dog-friendly recreational area. Conveniently located at 7963 Number 9 Rd, this park features plenty of open space for dogs to enjoy and amenities tailored for both pets and kids. Regular visitors appreciate the park’s cleanliness, and there are usually waste bags available to help keep the area tidy, making it a favorite among conscientious pet owners.
For families, Ark Park offers a playground, picnic tables, a basketball court, baseball and softball fields, and a Little Free Library. The playground is great for older children but may not be ideal for kids under five, according to reviews. Restrooms and some accessible features, like wheelchair parking and entrance, add to its convenience. If you’re searching for a dog park in Gloucester, Virginia with safe walking areas, room to run, and family-friendly amenities, Ark Park is a top choice.
The park itself may be nice, but the playground is not made for children under 5. Brought my 3-year-old and 2-year-old. There are no swings and the monkey bars are too high off the ground for them to climb. One small slide with a couple of stairs leading up to it. there was no way for them to get on the other two slides at the park without climbing up the slides and sliding back into the mulch. Inaccessible slides for children under 5.
Do yourself a favor and if you have children under five, don’t even bother wasting your time by coming to this playground.
You would think that a children’s playground would have shredded tire rubber to prevent head injuries. You would expect for there to be swings for little children to enjoy. You would expect a pool in a public park. You would expect a public basketball court in a public park. This park has none of those things. Gloucester County gets immense Federal and State grants every year. Yet they can’t find the money to invest in public park facilities for the public to enjoy.
Looks like the county could form a public private partnership with the YMCA to concentrate on bettering public recreational facilities to promote public health in Gloucester. Why they don’t do that is beyond my comprehension. I’m certain that there are grants to help pay for the majority of the costs. I have found the grants in the Federal Budget.
I would be glad to share the information with Gloucester County’s Administrator and the Board of Supervisors. Let’s make Gloucester County a better place to live for everyone.
We love taking our 2 boxers there. They run and play and roll until they wear themselves out. We always take doggie bags for clean up, plus there are bags there for others to clean up behind their pets also. I often clean up behind inconsiderate pet owners, but, but my dogs love going there to run so clean up is a MUST behind my dogs due to them being so big!! We give you a 10 star because it has to be clean for the kids to have there sporting events. We love going there.
Definitely one of my favorite softball fields to play at. Love that it’s Christian themed. Beautiful bathrooms. Great turf field complex.
My grandson loves going here to play on the playground. There is a bench so you can sit and watch your children play. There is a Little Free Library and a newly remodeled basketball court. There are also lots of fields for sports.
