Visiting the dog park can be a joyful activity for both you and your furry friend—but aggressive encounters can quickly […]
West Lakeside Street Park is a beautiful, newly developed park in Sylmar, California, perfect for dog owners and families looking for a relaxing outdoor experience. Opened in May 2023, this pet-friendly park features winding, accessible trails surrounded by native and drought-tolerant landscaping, providing pleasant dog-friendly hiking and walking experiences. With a large, shaded picnic area and a small amphitheater, it’s a great spot to spend the day or take a break while traveling with your pup.
This park is especially convenient for local residents and travelers, offering easy access from local freeways. Amenities include futuristic, clean public restrooms, picnic tables, and good wheelchair accessibility (both entrance and parking). Though there isn’t a dedicated fenced dog off-leash area, dogs are welcome throughout the park, and there are plenty of shaded areas to relax. Note: The parking lot is on the small side, but there is available street parking nearby. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
Nice park but if you look at the posting by the parking lit the park closes at sunset around 5 pm just an FYI
Beautiful new park, opened May, 6 2023. It has a small amphitheater and a pretty big picnic area, both covered with huge tarp structures for shade. There are winding trails, slightly steep at some points. Lots of native and other drought tolerant plants have been added, I can’t wait to see the Alisos and oaks grow up! There’s also a soccer field. The parking lot is pretty small, and unfortunately there are few transit options to comfortably get to the park besides driving unless you live very nearby. They also put up a sign saying street vendors need permits to be there which is a shame considering how buying raspados and paletas is such a big part of going to parks in the valley, but that’s up to the city and councilwoman Rodríguez.
