Lakeview Dog Park in Frankfort, Kentucky

Lakeview Dog Park offers a grassy, fenced-in space for dogs and their owners to enjoy some off-leash time in Frankfort, KY. Situated with a pleasant view and surrounded by trees, this dog park provides a separate area for small dogs and another for larger dogs, with the option to combine both sections for extra play space if not in use by others.

The park is known for its cleanliness and is relatively well-maintained, with waste bags and trash bins provided to help keep it tidy. While there are a few benches for dog owners, shade and seating are limited, and there is currently no water fountain available, so be sure to bring your own water, especially during warmer months. The park is accessible via a paved path from the parking area, but note that the walk can be long and steep, making it less ideal for people with mobility concerns.

Nice view. Just a large paddock installed on a hill of grass. Nice trees behind it.

Wish it had some fun features for dogs to scramble on or fun things to sniff.

Dog park is not disabled/handicap friendly & difficult to access for those with mobility issues. You must park a significant distance away, there is no actual path into the dog park & it’s all steeply uphill either way back out of the park. Seems ridiculous given the size of this park, like they slapped a “dog park” in there in order to say we have one but don’t really want it to be used, especially by the disabled citizens of the area.

Disappointing. It seems crowded with three or four dogs there. It’s very small compared to other dog parks. No water fountain, no shade, just two benches in the large dog area and one in the small dog area. The entrance gates don’t pull shut behind you, so if people don’t take the time to latch them properly, they swing wide open. The grass was cut and there was only one rogue poo to clean up, so that was a plus. It’s also nice that you can open a gate between the big and small runs to give the dogs more space when there isn’t anyone in the small dog section. There are no signs indicating where this facility is (fyi turn right toward the softball fields, park at the very end). My dog had a good time but because we expected a water fountain like at other dog parks, we had to cut our visit short so he didn’t over heat.

While this park is well maintained and grassy, considering the massive size of the entire park, the dog park portion is ridiculously small. The “large dogs” side isn’t big enough for even a moderately-sized dog to run and get good exercise. We were trying to throw a ball for our dog, and it kept going over the fence!

The park is also not very accessible. Although there is a paved path from the parking lot, it’s very long and quite steep. Someone in a wheelchair would have a difficult time accessing the dog park.

There is also no water available.
