Varnell Park, located on Main St in Cohutta, Georgia, is a peaceful, pet-friendly retreat known for its quiet atmosphere and beautiful spring. This small community park is a favorite gathering spot for families and dog owners looking for a relaxing outdoor experience. While it may not have the extensive playground features or dedicated fenced dog runs of some larger parks, its walking trail and natural amenities make it a cozy place for walking dogs and enjoying the serenity of nature with your best furry friends.
The park features a short walking trail (though a portion may be blocked due to walkway issues), open green spaces, and a pleasant spring that attracts locals for water collection and cool, shaded surroundings. There are bathrooms available—which visitors praise for being clean and well-maintained—making it a convenient stop for extended visits. Shady spots from mature trees and creek access make it especially inviting for pets and their owners seeking relief from the summer sun. Please be aware, reviews mention mosquitoes can be present, so bug spray is recommended for your visit.
Me and my kids love this quiet little park. the bathrooms are always open and are actually clean. The little creek is a big plus for my autistic kids because they love being around water.

Honestly it’s a lovely park that would have gotten 5 stars, had we not gotten eaten up by the swarms of mosquitoes coming out of the cool tree stump. 10 minutes there & we were covered from head to toe in bites. Could not enjoy.

Not really a park but a short walking trail that now has been partially blocked off because of a wooden walkway that is too rotten to walk on. Most people come here because of the spring to fill up water bottles. Not sure how often the water is checked or monitored for “drinkability”.
