Dog parks are always a risk and this one is no exception with patrons bringing their reactive dogs, dogs in heat, etc. The park is nice though.

Love the friendly people and their dogs. We may not remember the people’s names, but we get familiar with their dogs! Shepard Dog Park is my go-to play park for me and my gentle giant.

Dog was trying to have fun….but there is always that ONE wet towel. I’ve heard from friends to beware of that one person who shouldn’t be at the dog park. Unfortunately, I ran into that person my first time there. She admitted to a friend to “being out there for 2 hours and my dog is tired” while she sat on her phone the entire time ignoring her dog, who was growling at every visitor, likely because the poor dog was tired and ready for his “mother” to stop taking selfies and ignoring her. She then continued to scold the other visitors for their dogs “growling” (which they were NOT doing, it was her dog) when in fact they were trying to play with her dog, who was growling. Unfortunately with only one open dog park in the area, it will be hard to escape at least one irresponsible, delusional dog owner. Everyone else was fantastic – but I soon discovered why they left after a few minutes. Get those emotions ready to deal with a least one wet towel Karen!
