Pitcher Dog Park is a pet-friendly park located in Independence, MO, perfect for local dog owners looking for a place to explore with their furry friends. While not a traditional, fully fenced dog park, this spot features paved paths, a small walk-around track, benches, picnic tables, and plenty of grassy areas. Leashed dogs are welcome to stroll through the numerous trails, many of which wind into lightly wooded areas. The park is wheelchair accessible, offering both accessible parking and entrance points.
This park stands out for its open, green setting and historic charm, including an on-site historic cemetery. A covered barbecue/picnic area provides shade and shelter, making it a nice choice for a quick walk or a quiet picnic outing with your dog. Although it’s not fully enclosed and is adjacent to occasionally busy roads, there is some perimeter fencing to offer partial protection. Visitors should note the presence of some litter and a homeless population, common to several reviews, so extra caution and on-leash walking are recommended.
Not fenced in, lots of homeless people, awfully shady
It’s a park that allows dogs. There is no fenced in area and people drive by pretty fast. There is a fence between the road and park, but its not closed off. Has a small paved loop. There are trails through the woods but it looks like people live there and/or dump trash.
It’s a small park with an historic cemetery on site. A couple of picnic tables and a few benches. Has a walk around track (small). I enjoy taking my dog there for quick walks. Homeless have strong presence but seem safe. I’ve never had a problem.
Trash everywhere and a lot of homeless with no proper fence. Would have been ok looking spot except the trash is all food, cigarettes, and alcohol: unsafe for dogs. Find a different place
The park has a fence. But it is not a dog park. There is an asphalt trail with a couple of benches. The perimeter is not entirely fenced in which means the dog could walk onto the road or into the wooded area. There is a trash bin, but no doggy bags. There is a fountain where people can drink but not anything for dogs. There is a covered barbecue area with some benches. A few trees some nice grass. If your dog is good off leash, this might be OK but I wouldn’t call it a dog park.
