I cannot say enough good things about the adoption process with Animal Welfare. They were fast to respond and super friendly. I sent in my app late one night followed up by an email saying I would contact them in the morning and they did my background check, and then called and texted me all by 9:30 the next morning. They immediately scheduled an appointment for me and my dog to meet two foster dogs that afternoon. We even got to meet and talk to a member of the foster family of the dog we chose. They encouraged us to take him that night if we wanted him because their turnaround is pretty quick. They were right! 24 hrs later all six of the dogs at their shelter I had inquired about were adopted! The process was quick and not drawn out. The staff was so organized and prepared, and kind and caring towards us and the dogs. I’ve been inquiring about dogs at other shelters and foster agencies for 4 months with very little response or returned communication. We adopted our sweet Ernie, formerly Bluey, 2 weeks earlier than we intended but our experience at Animal Welfare Friends just made it obvious that Ernie was meant to be ours. Next time we are ready to adopt, they will be my very first call!
Animal Welfare Friends has the support of a large group of community volunteers along with the paid staff of two wonderful ladies!! There are many aspects of running and operating an animal care and control adoption agency that take countless numbers of hours and days to manage the care of such an assortment of animals with sometimes very wide and differing needs!
I also wish to thank them for one of the most trying and particularly difficult animals I have come to know and love. She is a wonderful addition after months and months of very careful and continuous support of my family. Neeka has come a long way and has learned a great deal of social skills but is still very easy startled into old toxic behaviors.
Thank you all for being a community of caring and loving animal advocates!!
I got my PERFECT puppy a couple weeks ago from Animal Welfare Friends! Their communication with me was great and made me feel comfortable with the adoption process. They introduced her to me in a comfortable environment and let me meet her mom so I could get an idea of her temperament and what she might look like as an adult.
So grateful I was able to get my adorable girl from this amazing shelter!
Hello. We recently adopted “Castille” and quickly fell in love with him. His second day with us, he showed signs of kennel cough which was worrisome because of the hacking cough, runny nose, and trembles. Luckily, he was seen by our local vet and he is now on the road to full recovery. Trust that we are truly grateful for having him be a part of our family. Hope and Love that all the fur-babes in this facility find their forever families!! P.s… we named him Manu ❤️❤️❤️
We inquired about a puppy and they jumped all over our application. We set up a meet and greet and when we got there saw the puppy fell in love . They informed us after we met our puppy she had kennel cough and had 10 days of antibiotics, and to bring her back if she coughed. The poor thing coughed all the way home. I took her directly to our vet and he said there was no way any antibiotics were given. Come to find out she had distemper on top of any other respiratory issues. We have spent a lot of money to get her on a road to recovery. Money is not the issue! The issue is fully vet the animals before adopting them out. If it wasn’t for us saving her she would have died there. It’s sad a 8lb puppy didn’t get the medical attention it needed. Just be ready for anything when adopting from any rescue or shelter. We have be informed this rescues bank account is pretty large so they had the funds to help this sweet little girl. She has a great home now and will never be without the proper veterinary needs.
