Located in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina, Skiptown is much more than just a dog park — it’s an innovative destination for local pet lovers seeking fun, safety, and community. Known for its sizable, fenced-in off-leash play areas, Skiptown features vibrant social energy, plentiful staff presence, and a welcoming vibe that keeps tails wagging. With its top-rated grooming services and friendly staff to support you and your pup, Skiptown is perfect for downtown pet parents or anyone searching for a dog park in Charlotte that doubles as a doggy day out.
The park stands out for its unique offerings, from an easy-to-use app with daily report cards to a well-maintained physical space with plenty of social opportunities for dogs and their humans. While the park is generally clean and spacious, high traffic at peak times means regular maintenance is a must, and Skiptown continues to balance fun with ongoing cleaning efforts. Please note that toys such as tennis balls aren’t allowed for safety, but there’s never a dull moment for your pup with all the furry friends to meet!
We love Skiptown! The staff is super nice, friendly and accommodating. I can always ask questions about how my dog’s day went and they upload pictures to the app of her playing etc. I love their reports at the end of a day and their user-friendly app. But what I love the most is that every time my dog goes to Skiptown, she is EXCITED! She likes it there – which is all that matters to me.
Went to another groomer in town for years and the service and time it took for the grooming were always lack luster. Skiptown exceeded all expectations and we’ll be taking our dog Polly there for grooming going forward. The groomer Ydal was super friendly and professional and did a great job. Can’t wait to use other services here as well.!
🐾 Skip Town – Real Talk Review
We love the place—the concept, the energy, the community vibe. But after our out-of-town dogs got sick post-visit, we’re rethinking the value. The vet bills alone weren’t worth the hassle.
🟡 The turf area sees heavy dog traffic, and while we can’t speak to their full cleaning process, first impressions matter. It looks like they rely on rain to rinse out urine and residue, with minimal active cleaning.
🟡 Dog hair is everywhere, and the space could be much more sanitary. Maybe a regular vacuum pass or deeper grooming cleanup would help.
🟡 We understand that maintenance is expensive and extremely hard, especially with the volume of dogs they host daily. That traffic is key for their clientele—but it also demands higher hygiene standards.
We genuinely enjoy the place and wanted our dogs to socialize. But for house dogs or sensitive pups, the health tradeoff makes it hard to recommend without caution. We love the place—but it needs cleaner follow-through to match the promise.

First experience with a professional groomer.
First off Skiptown is an amazing park already: Well staffed with kind, extremely attentive, people. Clean. Quite sizable. A great spot to finish off the afternoon if your a WFH. Great tap selection as well. The only downside is not being able to bring a tennis ball or toys, but when you’re there it makes sense to prevent scuffles. I’ve been going for a couple months and there’s always at least 20 or 30 sweet pups to socialize with. Great community.
My groomer was Chelsea. She took the time to go over what I was looking for, the specifics of what it usually done with my breed’s double coat, answered all my questions, and I felt like I was leaving my girl in good hands. When I came to pick her up she didn’t want to leave.
I would 100% recommend Chelsea’s grooming services, and the park in general. I will absolutely be going back to Chelsea next time my girl starts getting shaggy.

Wow! What an amazing facility! They do and have way more than just grooming. Mia groomed my baby and I am pleased. She listened to my concerns and took very good care of Lila! She looks great!
