Well , I have finally shared my favorite place in the world. I have been coming to Oak Hill since I was very young, my grandparents always stayed at Riverview Campground, so I’ve fished Mosquito Lagoon my whole life. There is so much heritage here, so many beautiful islands to fish . Indian Mounds, and dare I say it ~fish. You never give up your honey hole, but this place doesn’t disappoint. At sunrise you can see the fish feeding and mullet jumping, you can catch shrimp in your cast net, along with pin fish and mullet. Even fishing with a lure is great, especially to avoid the crabs and sailors choices. Just a side note – I had my phone plugged in and killed our battery. First fella that came through stopped and helped us, and his buddy saw him and stopped to ask if we needed help. It’s a close knit local community, with a lot of anglers and so forth. But be aware of your surroundings. There are some shady characters roaming around at night on bicycles. And sometimes sleeping on docks and so forth. They aren’t up to any good. Lock your car- but there is a local police presence that comes through regularly . And I like that. It makes it feel safe, and all the riff raff scurry away. I don’t encounter them often, but I have. But don’t let them take this beautiful spot away from one of your journeys. Just be aware . The cops are, so that’s a great feeling.

Very tiny launch spot but doable. They packed in a lot of trees, poles, and rocks to maneuver around. Just walk the street to the ramp And then turn to make it easier to not damat your boards or kayaks.

My husband and i were here yesterday for the first time and we are completely in love with this little community they have built here!! It was absolutely amazing and breathtaking! As soon as we drove in we felt totally relaxed and it felt like we’d been here for years! We could totally live here, grow old here and definitely will be back very very soon! Had the joy of meeting a few unforgettable people and we will remember this day for many years to come!
