Maxwell’s Dog Park was not a good environment for me or my family. After living in Southern California for about 10 years, I’ve visited a lot of parks, and this one stood out for all the wrong reasons.

On the day we went, there were multiple off-leash dogs with unknown histories and little supervision. One large mixed-breed dog even tried to bite my hand after lunging toward my toddler. When I asked whose dog it was, no one claimed responsibility. That’s a major safety concern.

I also noticed poor upkeep of the park and a general lack of oversight. It felt chaotic, and there were people bringing dogs with behavioral issues into the off-leash area without proper control. This is not a safe setting for small children or for dogs that aren’t extremely well socialized.

If you’re looking for a clean, well-managed dog park with responsible owners, I recommend finding another location. Maxwell’s may work if you’re local and used to it, but for families with kids or anyone wanting a calmer experience, it’s not worth the risk.

Maxwell Park is a spacious, well-maintained community space with a lot to offer both people and pets. The dog park area in sectioned off into small dogs and large dogs that are fully gated. The dedicated dog park area is large, mostly dirt with some patches of grass, and includes basic agility equipment for dogs to explore and play on. There are plenty of dog waste bags available, a drinking fountain specifically for pets, and secure fencing all around, making it a safe environment for off-leash play. However, one ongoing issue is that some dog owners do not clean up after their pets, which can detract from the overall experience.

The rest of the park is expansive and thoughtfully laid out. There are two well-kept baseball fields, multiple playgrounds equipped with slides and climbing structures, a vast green area for soccer and plenty of green open space perfect for picnics or casual strolls. The mature trees provide generous shade. There are multiple areas that have spots for barbecue with benches. The park also has three spots with exercise equipment. The park is comfortable even on warmer days. It’s clear the grounds are regularly maintained, and the overall atmosphere is clean and inviting.

Whether you’re bringing kids, pets, or just want to enjoy some outdoor time, Maxwell Park has something for everyone. With a bit more cooperation from dog owners in the designated area, it would be an even better experience. Still, it remains one of the more complete and versatile parks in the area.

This place has 2 fenced areas. 1 for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. It has some nice structures for dogs to play on and there is shade. It has a water fountain for the dogs too. It’s usually busier in the afternoons. Also, there is a lot of open grass on 2 sides outside the fenced dog areas. It’s great to let our dog run around on her own when she’s not wanting to engage with other dogs. It’s a great place!
