Tanyard Creek Greenspace offers dog owners a peaceful alternative to busier parks in Atlanta, GA. Located in the Loring Heights neighborhood, this hidden gem features three separate gated areas—great for dogs of all sizes, with the main area being a popular spot for pups to run and play. The park is known for its mindful community of dog owners and overall tranquil, pet-friendly environment. With paved walking paths, wheelchair-accessible ramps, and plenty of shade along the perimeter, it’s a comfortable space for both dogs and humans.
While the main dog park area has a gravel surface (which stays mud-free even after rain), some visitors note that there is currently no running water on-site, so bringing your own water for your dog is recommended. There’s ample opportunity for socialization and exercise, making Tanyard Creek Greenspace a wonderful spot to enjoy off-leash fun, local Atlanta dog walks, and the best of Mid-town’s pet-friendly trails.
Good sized space but the ground of the dog park is covered in gravel, awful choice for a dog park

Such a wonderful place, BEFORE they bolted the gates open. No longer dog friendly in the main grass area, dogs must play on gravel. This was our favorite spot to bring Jasper before the bolts. Very disappointed.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem. I highly recommend bringing your dog here as it beats the chaos of Piedmont Park. The dog owners here are 99.9% of the time very mindful of their dog, any aggression seen so far has been intervened by the dog owner (this has only happened once over the two months we have been frequenting this park). There are 3 separate gated areas that you can use but almost all of the dogs frolic in the main area. There are also a considerable amount of shade on the perimeter of the park. The only two negatives I can note are that there is no running water here so bring your own, and it tends to get a little muddy in the main park area after rains. That being said the two separate smaller gated areas have a small gravel that is not harsh on your pup’s paws. No mud in there.
So if they re-sod the main area and at least get a hose pipe running out there, its a solid 4 barely missing 5 stars.

A great little dog park nestled in Loring Heights. There is a walking path around the park with both stairs and wheelchair accessible ramps. There are also two gated “isolation” areas for dogs who might need a timeout.
