Railside Dog Park – Atlanta, Georgia

Railside Dog Park is an urban off-leash dog park in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia, located at 210 Peters St SW. While the park offers a spacious field and a unique view of the city, recent feedback indicates the area is largely unmaintained. With proximity to Atlanta’s historic railroad and the vibrant Peters Street area, the park was once the only off-leash option for local dog owners in this neighborhood.

Visitors should be cautious as reviews note overgrown grass, broken fences, and the presence of trash and debris, including broken glass. There are technically two separate areas (for small and large dogs), but these are not well-maintained. There is no reliable water source or covered shelter, and the park lacks amenities like seating or dog waste stations. Its urban setting and potential for improvement remain its most unique aspects, but at this time Railside Dog Park is best suited for those aware of its current condition and seeking an off-leash field within city limits.

All I can see that resembles the description is the railroad tracks. Nothing but a field of overgrown weeds and not a human being or dog in sight. Disgusting. Second one I travelled to that was not existent that is South Bend. Don’t even waste your time!

This an abandoned dog park. It is not safe for your pets. As others mentioned there is broken glass and garbage. It could be, and might have one time been, an awesome urban dog park. So sad that it can no longer be used. I’d like to see it refurbished. There is really no other dog park available in this area.

I can’t imagine how someone could give this park a rating more than one star. It is not so much a park as a big open field with lots of trash, literal trash, broken bottles, rocks, sticks, and a lot of unmanaged feces. There are technically two areas, but both are so close to the railroad tracks that the dogs come running in a panic every time a train comes. There is one light pole with a huge mound of trash around it and no landscaping, water, shelter, etc. To call this a dog park is really stretching the term park. It has a nice view of the city if you can stand the smell and don’t mind your dog rolling in trash or waste. This could be really amazing if the community put some effort and a lot of money in it. But it’s close proximity to the railroad tracks makes it terrifying for lots of dogs.

The location is nice but the park itself is run down. A tree damaged the fence which hasn’t been repaired. The park does not seem to have been mowed. I like the location because it’s a historic area and is in a hipster part of Atlanta. Behind the park by the bridge is a little garden created by the Peters Street Gallery. It’s such a shame that it’s not maintained well because it has the ability to be Gorgeous. I recommend extending the park to the stone wall. The wall has a lot of character.
