Located in the heart of Southeast Portland, the Mt Tabor Park Off-Leash Dog Area offers dog owners a uniquely natural setting with plenty of shady trails, gentle hills, and abundant foliage. This popular dog park in Portland, Oregon, is known for its expansive off-leash area, making it perfect for those seeking dog-friendly hiking and pet-friendly trails. While the terrain is hilly and surfaced with dirt and wood chips instead of grass, the park offers an immersive, woodland experience for both dogs and their owners.
While Mt Tabor’s dog park is mostly fenced, visitors should note that some sections are not fully enclosed and some fencing is low—caution is advised for dogs without strong recall. There are multiple entrances (one includes stairs), and double-gated entries for added safety. Water is available inside the park, though only at two locations, and shade is ample thanks to the mature trees. Although seating and waste stations are limited, the park’s tranquil environment and impressive size make it a favorite among local dog lovers. The main park also features amenities like paved paths, a kids’ play area, and a scenic pond for more family fun.

Its a cool park, but it is easy to loose your dog in. Also it is not fully fenced in. Theres a big set of stairs in the park that leads to the road without any fencing. You have to go up the stairs to see there is no fencing on that section of the park. Other than that issue it is a cool park if your dog has good recall I recommend it.
