Located just off Chestnut Street in Ashland, MA, Ashland Field is a popular destination for local dog owners looking for a spacious area to walk and socialize their pets. This pet-friendly park features rolling paths around a scenic reservoir, offering plenty of opportunities for dog-friendly hiking and outdoor enjoyment. With its welcoming community and peaceful surroundings, Ashland Field is well-loved by residents who have been walking their dogs here for decades.
The park provides basic but sufficient amenities for visitors, including free parking and wheelchair accessible entrances and lots. While facilities are modest—such as a soccer pitch, older bleachers, and a porta-potty for emergencies—dog owners often appreciate the well-maintained trails and open space for their pets to roam and interact safely. The park is directly accessible from Ashland State Park, with easy connections to additional walking paths and recreation areas.
I’ve walked our dogs here for 43 years. People are respectful with their animals. It gives animals a chance to socialize and run.
Great spot to hike and walk your dog. The woods has rolling paths around the reservoir. The parking is free.
How to book this field to play cricket
It appears the field has changed ownership and how they block off parking at all the entrances but people still park in the Warren woods lot, cross the street and walk their dogs there or whatever. It also can be directly accessed from the Ashland State Park which runs alongside the field.
On one occasion I was attempting to fly my drone and was apprehended almost immediately by a maintenance person who puffed out his chest and told me I wasn’t allowed to fly there but gave no reason why. Dog walkers seem to be allowed, but drones flying around in a huge empty space is prohibited. Kind of a huge waste of space in my humble opinion.
Facilities are basic but sufficient. Soccer pitch is in pretty good shape, the bleachers are a bit old and rickety. Parking is also adequate, although the entrance/exit is a bit tight. There is a porta-potty for emergencies.
