Wetherell Park is a beloved neighborhood park located in Worcester, MA, offering open green spaces, well-groomed playing fields, and wooded trails that make it a favorite spot for families, pet owners, and outdoor enthusiasts. Its spacious grounds provide ample room for flying drones, dog walks, and various recreational activities, ensuring that both kids and pets can run and play freely in a safe, minimally trafficked area. The park is regularly maintained thanks to community involvement and the dedicated Friends of Wetherell Park group, who continue to enhance and clean up the park’s facilities and trails.
With accessible walking trails and open spaces, Wetherell Park is ideal for dog-friendly hiking and pet-friendly outings in Worcester. While the park isn’t a traditional fenced dog park, leashed dog walks are welcome, and the free-flowing, relaxed atmosphere makes it a perfect space for casual strolls with your pup. The playground and sports fields keep kids and families entertained, while scenic wooded paths offer a peaceful retreat for all ages.
The neighborhood park is a true gem well worth the investment of public funds. It boasts well-used and well-groomed playing fields and walking trails for visitors to enjoy. However, there is a downside to the minimally managed parts of the park – a significant population of knotweed and oriental bittersweet on the Beaver Brook Watershed. Despite this, the park remains a beautiful and worthwhile destination for visitors.
The kids can run freely here . There is very little auto traffic .
A good little city-owned public park on the West Side of Worcester. There’s a field and playground, but when my daughter and I were there recently a class from the local grammar school came over and spread on the playground like a swarm of locusts. We had to leave, which is a shame.
My family and I love our little neighborhood park. For the past 7 years, most afternoons we have joined the mob of kids who go directly there after the elementary school lets out. The kids play football, soccer, baseball, kickball, tag, and lots of other games. And the adults enjoy it to, being able to socialize in a relaxed atmosphere while the kids all play. And it only keeps getting better as The Friends of Wetherell Park do improvements like cleaning up the trails in the woods. This park is such a special part of our neighborhood.
I love flying my mavic mini here. There is so much open space that its perfect.
